What Quizzes Measure

Each chapter includes a quiz designed to reinforce key concepts from the reading. These aren't memory tests—they're comprehension checks that help you internalize the principles of effective argument.

Questions cover vocabulary, application of techniques, and scenario-based reasoning. You'll encounter multiple choice, true/false, matching, ordering, and fill-in-the-blank questions.

Scoring & Passing

70%

Passing Threshold

Score 70% or higher to pass a chapter quiz. This ensures you've grasped the core concepts before moving on.
90%

Mastery Level

Score 90% or higher twice to achieve mastery. Mastered chapters are marked with a star in your progress.

Unlimited Retakes

You can retake any quiz as many times as you like. Questions and answers are randomized each time.

The Hint System

Stuck on a question? Each question offers up to two hints to help guide your thinking.

Hint Penalty

Using a hint reduces your final score by 5%. Two hints on one question means a 10% penalty for that attempt. The maximum penalty is capped at 25% per quiz. Use hints strategically!

Hints are designed to nudge you toward the answer without giving it away. They might remind you of a key concept, suggest elimination strategies, or point you to the relevant part of the chapter.

Spaced Repetition

The quiz system uses spaced repetition—a learning technique backed by cognitive science—to help you retain what you've learned.

After You Pass

Your first review is scheduled for 1 day after passing. Score well again and the interval grows.

Growing Intervals

After your second success, the review interval jumps to 6 days, then continues to grow with each review.

Score poorly on a review? The interval shortens. Score well? It lengthens. The system adapts to your retention.
